TRINITY DIPLOMA IN DANCE TEACHING & LEARNING

Level 6 - Dance Teachers Course

The DDTAL qualification is perfect for teachers involved in non syllabus dance styles such as Street Dance, Contemporary, Break, Hip Hop, African Dance, Bollywood and more! This Level 6 course will equip the learner with the skills and confidence to lead dance in a community, youth centre, after school club setting and shows employers and parents that you hold a recognised qualification.

We offer this course to students 21 and over but are willing to hear from students from 18 years who would like to be assessed for suitability.

New London Performing Arts Centre is accredited and approved to offer two professional Dance teaching qualifications with Trinity College London and the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (I.S.T.D). Each qualification ensures that potential teachers recieve the training, knowledge and confidence to become competent leaders of dance in many different settings.

Dance Teacher Training Courses at NLPAC

I.S.T.D DIPLOMA IN DANCE INSTRUCTION (DDI)

Level 3

This qualification is the initial teacher training before progressing onto the DDE which completes the full qualification. This route is suitable for those students who wish to teach I.S.T.D syllabus in TAP, BALLET or MODERN in private dance schools or for those who would like to set up their own dance school or classes.  Gaining this level 3 qualification allows learners to enter children for examinations under provisional I.S.T.D membership. Students can study this course from the age of 17. Students must be able to perform at Intermediate level in the genre they wish to study.

I.S.T.D DIPLOMA IN DANCE EDUCATION (DDE)

Level 4

The DDE is a continuation of the DDI giving the learner the full qualification and allows them to apply for full membership of the I.S.T.D. This course continues to develop teaching skills in more depth at a first year degree level. Learners will study lesson planning and teaching techniques & practice, child development and write a contextual study of dance. Students 18 and over who hold the DDI certificate may apply for this course.
