Ailsa Mainwaring

Ailsa trained at the Royal Academy of Music, and on the prestigious Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her operatic career includes mezzo-soprano roles such as Olga in Eugene Onegin (Mid Wales Opera), Dorabella in Cosi fan Tutte (King’s Head Theatre), Mother / Witch in Hansel & Gretel for Pop-up Opera, and work for companies including Garsington Opera and Wexford Festival Opera.

Ailsa’s love of singing began as a child in the nurturing environment of her local church choir. Because of this Ailsa remains passionate about giving young musicians the tools they need to pursue their talents, and encouraging them to aim high.
Alongside performing and teaching, Ailsa works extensively with several charities across the UK, providing music therapy to people living with dementia.
