Michaela Cisariková


Michaela is a choreographer, dancer and teacher.  Michaela’s unique style fuses elements of physical theatre and contemporary dance with Popping, Breaking and other Hip Hop styles. “The way Michaela dances and tells a story is quite remarkable. After Michaela achieved her ADPA Urban Strides First Government Accredited Street Dance Teaching Qualification, Level 4 Diploma. and her first class BA (HONS) Degree in Dance Education at Canterbury Christ Church University, where she began to train and develop as a contemporary dancer, Michaela went on to achieve the Jasmin Vardimon PGCertificate in physical theatre; where the combination of character, narrative and physical theatre methods matched so well her own interests. 

She is also the Artistic Director of MCDC – Michaela Cisarikova Dance Company (which she founded in 2014), a project based company where Michaela creates works for different platforms across the UK, Europe and Africa. aLove Story was the first ever site-specific work for Breakin’ Convention at Sadler’s Wells. Further Commissions and performances includes: The Place, Junction Dance, East London Dance and others.   

She’s become a prominent voice on the UK dance scene, and is now an associate artist of Walker’s 201 Dance Company. She was a dancer in 201’s break-through hit ‘SMOTHER’ (“Taking Hip Hop into thrillingly new terrain” – The Guardian), and last year took the lead role in the company’s second show – ‘SKIN’ (A masterpiece of human sensitivity – “Fringe Review”) – which recently completed a UK tour.

Michaela is an Assistant Choreographer for Andrea Walker’s “HOME”: a new production commissioned by The Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. The work is part of a British triple bill alongside choreographers Liam Scarlett and Andrew McNicol.

Other performance credits include: Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2015/16/17, Breakin’ Convention at Sadler’s Wells, Resolution, Protein Dance, 201 Dance Company, Spoken Movement and others.
