Onokome Miakpo-Emiaso

Kome fell in love with dance and the performing arts when studying for a BTEC National Diploma course at City and Islington college. Being able to be creative through the body and express herself through dance was an amazing experience and Kome achieved a distinction.

Kome went on to complete a BA Hons course in Performing arts at the London Metropolitan University, achieving a 2:1. Here she was able to do theatre, singing and choreography. In her second year she decided to focus more on choreography and was able to put on her first show with students of the the first year, and this was when she knew she wanted to not only dance but to teach it. Choreography allowed her to look at her own talents and experience other people’s reactions to something that she had created. It allowed her to speak and have a voice though music and movement.

As well as teaching at NLPAC and other children’s classes, Kome has also done fitness training and has taught adults aerobics, having obtained a OCR level 2 Certification in fitness instructing.

Kome particularly enjoys helping children to develop their confidence, concentration  coordination and communication which she believes is vital for every child’s development.
