At NLPAC we offer LAMDA Classes, preparing students to take graded exams in Acting and Musical Theatre.

Students can work towards graded exams from Entry level up to grade 8 (Gold), leading to prestigious, nationally recognised qualifications from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art – with the higher grades earning the learner UCAS points.

LAMDA Exams are held at our centre at the end of every term.

What are LAMDA exams?

LAMDA is one of the UK’s oldest and most respected awarding organisations. They have been offering practical examinations in communication and performance subjects for over 130 years. During this time, their qualifications have helped hundreds of thousands of candidates of all ages and abilities to develop lifelong skills.

LAMDA exams are about achievement – recognising and rewarding the endeavours of each individual – but they are also about empowerment. The ultimate aim is to provide all people with the opportunity to develop the life skills they need to be a success: attributes such as self-confidence and the ability to communicate clearly and present ideas.

At the heart of LAMDA examinations is the recognition that the qualifications are for everyone. Across the globe, LAMDA examinations unite learners of all ages, abilities, backgrounds and cultures in enthusiasm for the English language and a desire to develop skills for life.

LAMDA Acting

LAMDA examinations in Acting use the preparation and performance of dramatic scenes to support the development of self-confidence and communication skills.

By portraying other characters, learners can explore a range of different personalities and emotions, which in turn makes them more emotionally aware and empathetic.

LAMDA Musical Theatre

LAMDA examinations in Musical Theatre help students to develop their acting and singing skills.

Like our Acting exams, they encourage empathy and self-awareness, as learners are required to present believable characters through both song and acting.

Exploring different characters also allows learners to get to the heart of how feelings and emotions dictate behaviour, encouraging them to become more self-aware. As with all LAMDA examinations, the development of a clear speaking voice and good body language are an integral and positive product of the exams.
